Team Changes

My original team, Future Vision, from 2020 was phenomenal. Even fourteen months since seeing most of them they’re still some of my best friends. The fun we had at each meal in Nias, the times they forced me into the Indian Ocean, crying together as we were sent home all created an incredible bond.

At training camp with my new squad I was low-key dreading meeting my new team because there was no way anyone could live up to the bar they set. When teams were finally divided and the six of us sat together as Team Stormchasers for the first time I was satisfied. Just satisfied. At the time I didn’t know any of them well, just enough to know that they loved the Lord and I would be okay serving with them for a season.

It took a couple weeks, but I fell in love with Stormchasers. They’re all amazing, with their own unique strengths, skills, laughs, weaknesses, and personalities. They’ve touched my life, as five individuals and as a team, and will continue to help me grow as squadmates now and brothers and sisters for forever, and I wanted to highlight each of them:

Tito: as our team leader, Tito did a solid job of disciplining us and gluing as together. He led us in the hard times, when there was conflict within the team, when we changed ministry locations, when people (certainly not me, what’re you talking about?) kept having to quarantine due to being covidy. He’s the kind of leader who you’d follow off a cliff because you’re just assuming he’s arranged for a pool to be underneath. He provided leadership and wisdom like the man of God that he is.

Kevin: Kev is the most fun guy you’ll ever meet, and uses it to glorify God. It’s become the norm that while we’re walking down the street he’ll suddenly be best friends with a stranger and be sharing the gospel of Christ with them. Listening to him pray is also one of the most satisfying feelings I’ve ever felt.

Victoria: Victoria embodies being a woman of God so well. Like Martha she’s a hardworking servant, but she also loves to sit at God’s feet and listen to Him. You can’t have a conversation with her without being encouraged. She’s strong and courageous, and humble yet confident.

Sarah: Sarah’s always happy. Every interaction with her fills me with joy and laughter. No matter what situation we’re in she’s always a ray of sunshine and gives everyone around her peace. If you wanted to learn everything about who she is you need look no further than listing the fruits of the Spirit.

Jackie: Jackie’s awesome and inspiring. Even when things are rough and she’s in tears she gives you joy. Her vulnerability, her courage to persevere, and her faith in God make me want to follow Him. She’s bubbly, enjoys stepping out of her comfort zone, and willing to take the lead whenever it’s necessary.

My new team consists of all the guys on the squad. Tito’s been raised up as a new squad leader, but Kev’s stuck with me for at least another couple months. I’m excited to get to know the other guys, Jerome, Jacken, Justin, Aaron and Scottie, while we’re together. They each bring something unique and invaluable to the table.

Jerome: leadership and prayer.

Kev: joy

Jacken: loyalty

Justin: excitement for what God’s doing in us

Aaron: authenticity

Scottie: power
